Physicians Group Backing Tort Reform Bill
The American College of Physicians, the nation’s largest medical specialty organization has announced that they are backing a new congressional bill that would limit medical damages in lawsuits. HR 1215 or the Protecting Access to Care Act, is a Republican-sponsored medical-liability reform bill. The bill is now out of committee and on its way to the full US House of Representatives. HR1215 would place a $250,000 cap on noneconomic damages. With Republicans in control across Washington, the odds of approval are higher now than they have been in years.
