Parabellum Capital Expands Intellectual Property Offerings, Enhances Underwriting Through Strategic Partnership with PatentVector

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Parabellum Capital LLC (“Parabellum”), an innovator in litigation finance, today announced a new strategic partnership with PatentVector LLC, the industry leader in big data patent analytics. PatentVector will provide patent data analytics to Parabellum, who will be the exclusive recipient among litigation financiers. In addition, Professor Andrew Torrance, PatentVector’s CEO and Co-Founder, will serve as Parabellum’s Special Advisor for Data Science.

Founded in 2013, PatentVector provides an objective analysis of the entire U.S. patent landscape by applying eigenvector centrality and hierarchical clustering methods. The partnership will provide Parabellum a uniquely powerful way to discover important patents, assess the importance of entire patent portfolios, and analyze the patenting performance of patent owners, inventors, attorneys, and examiners.

“Patent data analytics play an increasingly important role in how we analyze potential patent investments,” said Sean Thompson, Parabellum’s Director of IP Strategies. “Over the past six months, we’ve performed an exhaustive analysis of patent data analytics offerings and concluded that PatentVector was the clear leader.”

Angela Ni, Parabellum’s Director of Underwriting and Data Strategies added: “Parabellum leverages data science across all its verticals and in the underwriting process. We are thrilled to have Professor Torrance and his team on board.”

The PatentVector partnership further cements Parabellum’s leadership in the patent litigation finance space. In addition to providing traditional financing solutions to patent owners and intellectual property practices, Parabellum focuses on financing the monetization of operating company portfolios. Parabellum recently closed a substantial investment involving the financing of the mining and monetization of a major technology company’s portfolio, which is expected to involve licensing and enforcement activity around the world.

“The breadth of our team’s experience gives us the ability to analyze patent portfolios and structure creative, aligned deals that maximize value for all parties,” continued Thompson.

“PatentVector is delighted to have this unique opportunity to work with the impressive, talented team at Parabellum,” said PatentVector’s Torrance.
